For those who love Canada’s North, Ted Harrison is a MUST. His use of vibrant colours and bold lines made him a favourite artist among Canadian students. With the help of chalk-, oil pastels, and mixed media, 3 beautiful sceneries will come to life. The level of difficulty can be adjusted according to the grade level taught. Participants will be provided with a set of handouts and a PowerPoint presentation (bring your own USB stick) that can be used directly in their art classrooms. Open to art and general teachers of grades 4- 10. All supplies provided by the instructor. $10 (cash only)registration fee.

Teaching the Holocaust in the Middle Years
For the past 10 years Lindsay Anderson has been integrating Holocaust studies into her middle years Social Studies and ELA classes in grades 7-9. This session will explore how to safely enter into a study of the Holocaust and bring students out with a better understanding of Jewish life before, during, and after this period in history. Educators will explore resources GALORE, share how they currently integrate Holocaust studies, learn more about the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem, and walk away with ideas to use starting Monday morning.
